The Dental Restoration
A dental crown, denture or dental bridge can be secured using dental implants. For a single dental implant, a dental crown is a custom fabricated to look like your natural missing tooth. The restoration is made from a highly durable ceramic material that is both stain and decay resistant. The dental crown will be color matched and shaped to blend seamlessly with your adjacent teeth.
The abutment is the “anchor” that secures the implant post to the dental restoration. The abutment protrudes from the gum line and is used to permanently secure the dental crown in place
The Implant Post
Made from medical grade titanium the implant post is biocompatible designed to fuse with the jaw bone. The dental implant post is surgically implanted into the jaw bone at the site of the missing tooth. Left to heal, the implant begins to integrate with jaw supporting long-term stability for the bite and helps to prevent bone loss.
Dental implants have become the standard for missing tooth replacement due to their long list of oral health benefits. Patients who choose dental implants enjoy improved overall oral health and enjoy a more confident and natural looking smile.
Dental implants mimic the natural design of a human tooth. The dental implant post is like a prosthetic root structure. Designed to fuse with the jaw bone, the implant supports the jaw and the adjacent teeth. Patients with implants are less likely to experience bone loss or facial sagging often common in patients with missing teeth.

Are dental implants right for me?
Many patients are suitable candidates for dental implants. Dental implants require substantial healthy bone and gum tissue for long-term success.
With recent advancements in implant dentistry, edentulous patients are now more likely candidates for dental implants, often without the need for bone grafting. If you have had missing teeth for some time, implants may still be an option for you.
Using CBCT 3D digital scanning, Dr. Gil is able to build a complete picture of your unique dental concerns allowing for more precise treatment options. CBCT 3D technology is used in pretreatment planning and for the digital guided placement of implants.
During your consultation, Dr. Gil will present your treatment options and explain the benefits of choosing dental implants so that you may make informed decisions about your dental care.
Dr. Gil will perform the surgical implantation phase from the comfort of our Allentown, PA dentist office. Patients will receive detailed instructions pre-op and will be made comfortable on the day of surgery.
The number of implants placed will vary depending on your personalized treatment plan. The implants will be left to heal for 3-6 months prior to receiving your final dental restoration. During this time your implants will fuse into place creating a secure hold. You will return to Dr. Gil during your healing period to ensure your implant is healing properly.
